Each heart you take in a trick costs 1 point. The Queen of Spades costs 13 points. The goal is to have the lowest score at the end of the game. If one player takes all 26 points in a hand, called shooting the moon, that player gets 0 points and everyone else gets 26.

Shooting the moon means taking every heart (13 points) plus the Queen of Spades (13 points) in a single hand for all 26 points. Instead of getting 26 points, the shooter gets 0 and every other player gets 26. It is a high-risk, high-reward strategy that can swing a game dramatically.
